Teachers

We take pride in our creative and loving environment, where our little Starlings thrive as they prepare to take flight to kindergarten. Our preschool programming uses a thematic approach in which children are encouraged to learn by doing. Along with focusing on age appropriate academic topics, building social skills and developing positive character traits, your child will have many opportunities to learn through play and planned group activities.

Program Overview

Our preschool learning environment is primarily based on curriculums used in high-quality early education settings throughout the United States. It consists of well-planned learning centers that allow for child choice and self-directed play, small groups, and supportive teaching that prepares children for academic excellence. Children are encouraged to learn by doing.

The development of language, mathematical reasoning and scientific thought is emphasized throughout all the centers. Along with focusing on age appropriate academic topics, building social skills and developing positive character traits, your child will have many opportunities to learn through play and planned group activities.

 Learning centers include:

  • Language/Library
  • Construction/Blocks
  • Science
  • Dramatic Play
  • Outdoor Learning
  • Art/Creative Expression
  • Music and Movement
  • Sensory
  • Math/Manipulatives

Throughout the day, children make self-directed and guided choices, participate in small groups and projects, and join in circle-times with the whole group. Children are guided to critical learning experiences that form the building blocks of healthy development. Using the curriculum and knowledge of the children and families as a framework, teachers use their talent and expertise to design, adapt and invent learning centers that best serve the children in the room.

The program is designed for each child to learn all the necessary skills and understandings to succeed in kindergarten and continue to thrive academically and socially. This program provides developmentally appropriate teacher guided and child directed activities that foster independence, creativity and cognitive growth. The various activities provide opportunities for both physical play and intellectual and social development.
