What's better than watching a two-year-old show off their new skills? In our opinion, not much, except for watching them take those skills to the next level! In the Peacocks classroom, children learn through various hands-on activities and play. Some of the activities include teacher-directed art projects, music and movement, outside time, and circle time activities, which include stories, weather, talking about the day and learning new songs. Teachers also promote independence during daily routine activities like eating, potty-training, hand washing and cleaning up. Children also build on their social skills by learning to take turns, share with friends and use words to express their feelings.
Peacocks Lessons week of May 20, 2013
This week is about music. There will be practicing of many skills such as coloring, cutting, painting, drawing while listening to different styles of music. We will have some fun with play dough, with any hope-- lots of outside time. We could use some help from families this week: we would like some recycle items that would be fun to make our own musical instruments out of. Please bring what ever sets your creative mind soaring by Wednesday so we have what we need for Thursday morning's activities. On Friday, we are going to parade around the building playing our instruments.

This week is about fairy tales. There will be practicing of many skills such as coloring, cutting, painting, drawing... We will have some fun with play dough, with any hope-- lots of outside time (including an outside art activity AND maybe even snack outside one day. On Friday, we are going to put on our "Chef's hat" and bake some bread.

This week is about our WONDERFUL Moms. There will be making of appreciatinos to give, a science experience (nope, that's all your getting to know about that!) , talking about why we love our Mom so and things we like to do with Mom, as well as making a class book to enjoy.

This week is all about flowers. There will be making of flowers, science experiements with flowers, looking for flowers (and hopefully maybe even getting to smell some flowers) as well as painting flowers. We will also talk about what flowers need to grow.

This week is all about Winnie the Pooh, his friends and his adventures. We will be reading stories about the Hundred Acre Woods characters throughout the week I wonder who our friends favorite character will be. There will be gluing, coloring, painting, getting dirty and some playdough fun Even more exciting than that: Wednesday we will have a "tea party."
