Baby Chicks:
In the Baby Chicks group Collin and Brooklyn will be "flying from the coop" soon in March to join the Penguins. They are growing so quickly and are visiting with the Penguins more often. Don’t forget to bring your warm jackets, hats, and mittens in case we get a warm March day. We might go on a walk outside!
Penguins:
Hello from the Penguins who would like to wish you all a happy St. Patrick’s Day! You know what that means! Spring is just around the corner - yeah! We are so happy to welcome Brooklyn and Collin to our arctic adventures on March 22nd. This means we bid a fond farewell to Autumn who moves to the Parrots on the same day. She has visited her new classroom and is definitely ready for some new adventures as a Parrot. We will miss her and sneak hugs and kisses whenever possible.
Parrots:
Hopefully spring is right around the corner. The Parrots
are ready for some nice warm and sunny weather. We are
all excited to get outside and go for walks and see all the
big trucks and buses. We will be working on getting ready
for St. Patrick’s Day, making some clovers, rainbows, and
finding gold! We want to wish our friend Beatrice good
luck on her new adventurers as she will become a Peacock
on March 8th. All of the children are becoming very independent
and are talking more and more each day. Please
let Cassie and Charley know if any parents are interested
in setting up a time to talk about your child’s progress.
Peacocks:
In March the Peacocks will welcome Beatrice to our class.
Our room is now full! We are working on A, B, C’s and
counting to 10. We are also working on table manners. We
are starting to take walks again, so please dress your child
accordingly. At the end of March, Nash will move to the
preschool room! We are sure going to miss his smile.
Owls:
First the Owls would like to say “Happy Birthday” to
Nevaeh (4 years old on the 5th)! We will be welcoming
Nash to our class in the near future! He will be turning 3
at the end of the month! We are all looking forward to
warmer weather and sunshine! However, please remember
to make sure your child still has appropriate cold-weather
apparel here, as it still is rather chilly when we go out in
the mornings! Our upcoming themes include Weather,
St. Patrick’s Day, Spring and Easter!

One of the girls in the Peacocks class was standing next to Miss Laura wearing a
princess dress and just looking off into the distance. When Miss Laura asked her
“What are you doing?” she simply said, “Waiting for my prince to come.”
One of our moms told her children that they would be able to get a new puppy
as soon as both her boys were potty trained. The older brother took the younger
brother by the hand and sat him on the potty (after removing his diaper) and
said, “Like this” – and scrunched up his face to show how to go and then said,
“Now poop, so we can get a puppy!”
One of the little girls in the Peacock class went on the potty. When she was
done she looked up at her teachers and said, “My mommy daddy be so proud
of you!”
Two of the children in the Owls preschool class were talking at the lunch table
about going on a date. The girl asked the boy if he would like to go out for a drink!
He asked where they would go. She suggested Subway. Then she said how they
should ask their moms to come along too, since they love them too!
A little girl from the Owls class was working on an alphabet puzzle and when she
got to the letter M she looked at her teacher and said, “Where is the men-o?”
Preschool Themes/Request for Volunteer Participants
The Preschool class is looking for guest volunteers who would like to talk about a
topic or lead an activity for the children in an area you are interested in. This would
involve a half hour to an hour of time with the kids. Based on looking at the themes
below, we thought you (or your friends/family members) might have knowledge you
can share with the children. It could involve music, a different language or culture,
something with art, or anything you think would add value to the class. The preschool
themes are listed below.
If you’re interested, please talk with Becky Lange or Jill. Even if you can just volunteer
once, our kids will be thrilled with the variety and seeing different people
sharing new things with them!!
We’ll plan to send the themes out on
an ongoing basis to get people’s creative
juices flowing.

is an age of fun, entertainment and learning. There
are myriad of toddler educational activities that
stimulate the learning process in childhood. These
days many free toddler learning activities are
available on the Internet to download.
The following are some of the most popular
toddler learning activities :
Go for a nature walk
Go with your child for a nature walk. Your child
will love exploring the beautiful collection of
nature. Make him learn the colors, shapes and
meanings of objects like leaves, trees, sun, flowers,
etc.
Have fun with Water
Fill a tub with water and give your child different size containers. Let him pour
water from one container to the other. This will help develop hand and eye coordination.
You can also place various objects in water and let him learn that some
objects float and some sink.
Paper Tearing or Cutting
Gather some old newspaper and magazines. Ask your toddler to cut pieces from
different magazines and prepare a collage.
Story Painting
Draw various objects and scenes on different pieces of paper. Ask your child to
color the objects and scenery as to complete some story.
Match the Following
Make two columns and draw different objects of different counts in one column. In
the other write numbers and ask your toddler to match the number with the right
object.
Connecting Dots
Make dots on a piece of paper in such a way that it resembles an alphabet. Ask
your child to join the dots and recognize the alphabet. This will help him learn the
alphabets.
Shape Hunt
Draw different shapes on a piece of paper and ask your toddler to hunt for an
object in the house that has identical shapes.
Alphabets Learning
Draw different alphabets on a paper and cut it. After that gather pictures of different
objects, animals, birds and flowers whose name starts with that alphabet. Ask
your child to select all the objects starting from a single alphabet and stick them
together with the alphabet.
